A shout out to an ad writer

I have trouble sleeping, so I watch a lot of middle-of-the-night TV. In turn, that means I see a lot of commercials. I don’t normally pay attention, but one last night made me laugh out loud. It was one of the million Progressive Insurance commercials but it wasn’t with Flo, it was with the little white box.

Most of the ad copy is silly, over the top, even. If you haven’t seen it, an animated box is pretending to be a rock star, getting a massage, floating in the pool, etc. I gotta hand it to the writer, though. When that little box hops up on the diving board and yells “Cannon Box!” I just fell apart. Thank you, dear writer, whoever you are. I needed a good laugh in the wee hours of the morning.
