Celebrating Independence

I admit, I spend far more time on social media than I should. I justify it since I rarely watch TV news, so the internet is my source for what’s going on in the world.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to find credible sources of “independent” news. More than once, I’ve been sucked into a story by a clever headline, only to find it was propaganda of one type or another. It ticks me off, more than a little, and terrifies me as well.

I’m an intelligent, skeptical, well-educated professional. I know how to check sources and read between the lines. But if I can be fooled, even once, I fear for all of the folks who are less diligent than I.

On the cusp of this holiday weekend, I’ll be contemplating things to celebrate. Independence is only the beginning.
